Royal Caribbean to base ship in Barbados

Royal Caribbean will homeport a ship in Barbados next year, offering Southern Caribbean sailings.

Grandeur of the Seas will sail seven and 14 night cruises out of Bridgetown to destinations including Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Grenada, Dominica, Cartagena, Panama, and Costa Rica.

It is the first time it has based a ship in Barbados.

Royal Caribbean's new 2021-22 winter cruises include two seven-night Caribbean itineraries and the 14-night Ultimate Caribbean sailing.

The longer cruise durations are possible as basing the ship in Barbados takes it out of the US CDC's jurisdiction.

"We are excited to grow our longstanding partnership with Barbados and introduce Bridgetown as Royal Caribbean's newest home port," said Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley.
