Scoot gets temporary Hong Kong flight ban for Covid passenger breach

SIA Group low cost airline Scoot is the latest to fall foul of Hong Kong's strict Covid rules.

It has been hit with a two-week temporary ban until 29 April.

It was banned after a passenger flight arrived from Singapore on 11 April with two passengers who tested positive for Covid-19.

One additional passenger also 'failed to comply with requirements,' according to Hong Kong officials.

"The Department of Health thus invoked the regulation to prohibit landing of passenger flights from Singapore operated by Scoot in Hong Kong from 16 to 29 April," a statement said.

Scoot said the two passengers had valid negative pre-departure Covid-19 test results but later tested positive in Hong Kong.

"For affected passengers booked on flights departing from 16 Apr onwards, Scoot will provide re-booking where possible or offer a full refund," the airline said.
