TSA screens over two million travelers in a day

The Transportation Security Administration cited another positive sign of a meaningful air travel recovery after screening more than two million daily passengers for the first time since the pandemic began.

That is up to 74% of the passenger volume for the same day in 2019.

It is the latest signal that summer travel is picking up again, with vaccination rates continuing to steadily rise.

"The growing number of travelers demonstrates the resilience and the high level of confidence in ovid-19 counter measures," said TSA Senior Official Darby LaJoye.

At the lowest point in April 2020, daily passenger screenings were below 90,000.

Daily totals have consistently topped at least one million every day since early Match 2021.

Prior to the weekend, there were more than 142 million Americans fully vaccinated.
