Melia opening new Chiang Mai hotel

Global hospitality group Melia is introducing a new five-starr hotel to Chiang Mai in late 2021.

Melia Chiang Mai will feature 260 keys overlooking the the River Ping and bustling Night Bazaar.

Owned by lifestyle real estate group Asset World Corporation (AWC) the hotel is part of the Melia brand's roll-out plan in key destinations across Thailand, including Meli Koh Samui which debuted in January 2020.

INNSiDE by Meli Bangkok Sukhumvit, the first property of its brand in Thailand, is due to open in 2022 close to the Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Meli Chiang Mai will comprise a striking 22-floor tower fronted by an adjoining seven-floor podium building.

It will have two restaurants, two bars, two lounges including an executive lounge on the 21st floor with a panoramic view of Chiang Mai, as well as Melia's signature YHI Spa.

 It also features a fully equipped fitness centre, swimming pool, ballroom and four other meeting spaces.

Meli Chiang Mai's main feature will be will be a 22nd floor 360-degree rooftop bar which it says is the highest in the city.

"Melia Chiang Mai is a landmark project of our strategic roll-out of the brand in Thailand, in line with AWC's growth-led strategy," said Khun Wallapa Traisorat, Meli Chiang Mai's owner and AWC's CEO and President.

"Partnering with Melia has allowed us to set a new benchmark for Thai hospitality."
