Iberia launches Maldives flights

Spain based Iberia has started scheduled nonstop flights to the Maldives. It serves as another boost for the Indian Ocean archipelago, which has been welcoming foreign visitors for some months.

It is flying Airbus A330 aircraft carrying up to 292 passengers with a summer schedule of three flights a week through August .

According to the Tourism Ministry, 18 airlines have resumed operations to the Maldives. The country has welcomed more than half a million tourists so far this year.
