First tourist Covid case in Phuket since start of sandbox opening

The Thai island of Phuket has reported its first Covid-19 case in an overseas visitor since it reopened for quarantine-free travel at the beginning of July.

The visitor came from the UAE, said Koosak Kookiatkul, chief of Phuket's public health office. The positive result came from the mandatory test after arriving in Phuket.

Phuket reopened to international travellers again on 1 July under its ;sandbox' scheme which means travellers must stay in Phuket for 14 days before thaye are allowed to venture into other provinces in Thailand, subject to a negative Covid test.

    Ok....so one off is not a big deal but how after testing and vaccinated does one turn positive?.....Elsewhere we are bracing for a lockdown here!
