Australian Formula One, MotoGP races cancelled

The Australian Formula One Grand Prix has officially been scrapped for this year, the Victoria government said. The 2021 MotoGP at Phillip Island has also been cancelled.

The state government is blaming the 'slower than forecast' rollout and uptake in vaccinations. The F1 race had already been pushed back to November from March. Due to low vaccination rates, the state government could not give F1 and MotoGP guaantees that the races would take place, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula said.
