NZ hot air balloon crash injures 11 people

A crash investigation is taking place this weekend after a hot air balloon crash injured 11 people. The sightseeing balloon crashed into a low bank after it was swept up in a gust of wind as it was coming in to land.

Transport Accident Investigation Commission officers are at the site near the New Zealand town of Arrowtown. Two of the injured are in a Dunedin hospital in a serious condition. Others suffered bruises and fractures.

Operator Sunrise Balloons has been operating balloon rides in the Queenstown Lakes area for more than two decades without any previous incidents.
