Singapore - Hong Kong travel bubble to be reviewed in late August

The long-delayed quarantine free travel bubble between Hong Kong and Singapore might not be happening anytime soon.

Singapore's Transport Minister S. Iswaran and Hong Kong's Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Edward Yau said they will only resume meaningful discussions about a potential start date when the Covid situation is conducive.

"Both parties will remain in close contact and monitor the public health situation in both places before taking stock in late August," Singapore's Transport Ministry said.

It comes as Singapore goes back to a phase two alert with stricter protocols to curb a recent spike in cases.

The Hong Kong-Singapore bubble was due to launch in late 2020 but was postponed to May and then delayed again.

Singapore hopes to have more than 60% of its 5.7 million population vaccinated by early August.
