Cost of quarantine hotel stay could increase

The cost of a mandatory quarantine hotel stay could rise by £500 according to a new government proposal. It could rise to a total price of £2,250 in an effort to stop unnecessary trips to red list countries.

Travellers arriving from high risk destinations currently pay £1,750 per person which includes two PCR Covid tests, transport from the airport and meals.

It is thought about 30,000 out of more than 100,000 who were required to stay in quarantine hotels were on leisure trips.
