Soneva Fushi launches virtual reality experience

Luxury Maldives resort Soneva Fushi is offering a new experience for guests unable to get to the Indian Ocean archipelago right  now.

It is launching an exclusive new Virtual Reality (VR) experience.

The Soneva VR headset overcomes travel restrictions and lockdowns to bring an insight into island life into viewers' homes.

To achieve this, the Soneva team partnered with a UK-based studio to  develop a personalised VR content series that showcases Soneva Fushi's features and experiences to a global audience.

The video series focuses on a number of key areas, which include the brand's 25-year history and its environmental sustainability philosophy.

It also showcases  the Soneva Fushi Water Retreats, the Soneva in Aqua,  a luxury 23-metre yacht that sails from Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jan, as well as The Den children's playzone and the Family Villas.

There is also a VR complete Resort tour.

"With many international travellers restricted from visiting the Maldives in person, it felt imperative to create new ways of engaging with audiences that extended above and beyond Soneva's popular social media channels and consumer newsletters," said Soneva's CEO and founder, Sonu Shivdasani

"Technology in tourism has increased rapidly over the last decade, and this became an exciting opportunity for us to modernise beyond on-property considerations. The visual nature of Virtual Reality is a natural fit for supporting Soneva Fushi's continued mission to connect with guests."
