Shapps defends 'amber plus' stance on France

Grant Shapps defended the decision to put France on the UK's 'amber plus' travel list, amid claims from France it is 'discriminatory and "excessive.' Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab yesterday said the move was in response to high rates of the Beta variant in island territory Reunion, which  is thousands of miles from Europe.

However the transport secretary says there is also 'an issue' with the Beta variant in Northern France. "So it has been an overall concern," Shapps told Sky News.
