Australia border reopening tied to 80 per cent vaccination target

Australia will reopen international borders only when 80% of eligible adults have been fully jabbed, the federal government said. Under its current sluggish vaccination rates that target won't likely be reached until sometime in early-January, 2022.

The government unveiled a four-step recovery plan as lockdowns continue in several cities. When the vaccination rate is reached, borders would likely reopen initially only to other 'safe' countries with high vaccination rates.
