Six guests catch Covid on Royal Caribbean Bahamas cruise

Six passengers on a Royal Caribbean Bahamas cruise have tested Covid positive.

All are Americans and it includes four who are fully vaccinated.

The four are not traveling together, a cruise line spokesperson said and the two unvaccinated passengers are minors.

The positive cases were detected during testing required for all guests before returning back to the US.

"Each guest and their immediate travel parties disembarked in Freeport and are separately traveling home via private transportation," it said.

RCI said everyone had tested negative prior to boarding.

At the same time as the mini-outbreak, the cruise line said it will be expanding its testing procedures for cruises of five nights or longer departing from the US.

Passengers are required to have a negative test before they board, said CEO Michael Bayley.

The new testing policy will last until at least the end of August.

"We realize this will not make many guests happy just as it will comfort many guests. We are trying our very best to provide a safe and healthy vacation for all our guests our crew and the communities we visit during these challenging times," Bayley said.

All crew on the Adventure of the Seas are inoculated and all adult guests on ships must be fully vaccinated.
