NYC mandates vaccination for restaurants, entertainment

New Yorkers and visitors will need to prove their vccination status when going out drinking, dining or working out.

Proof is needed to enter restaurants, fitness centers and indoor venues, Mayor Bill de Blasio said.

"If you're unvaccinated, unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in many things. If you want to participate in our society fully, you've got to get vaccinated," said de Blasio.

Broadway theaters just announced they will require vaccinations to attend shows.

NYC will start enforcing the program from mid-September.

The program is known as the 'Key to NYC Pass' and would encourage increased vaccination rates to slow the spread of the delta variant, City Hall says.

To gain entry, customers can provide their vaccination cards or upload their proof of vaccination to the Excelsior Pass app.
