Carnival Vista confirms 'small number' of Covid cases

Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed positive Covid infections on its ship sailing out of Galveston, Texas on a Caribbean voyage.

It declined to say how many cases, confirming a 'small number' of people onboard the Carnival Vista.

People who have tested positive are isolated aboard the ship and their close contacts are being monitored.

In response to the outbreak, the cruise line has tightened protocols, requiring masks to be worn in some indoor areas, even for fully vaccinated guests.

This rule is fleet-wide and applicable to all CCL ships from 7 August..

"Our pre-established protocols of vaccinated guests and crew, testing, anticipated the potential for positive cases, and they are designed to adapt to various scenarios," the line said.

As well as the mask rule, Carnival is also requiring a pre-cruise test requirement for all vaccinated guests.
