Hawaiian is next airline to mandate vaccination for US workers

Hawaiian Airlines is the latest carrier to make vaccination compulsory for US employees.

The airline said workers will need to be vaccinated by 1 November 2021 while those who satisfy religious or medical exemptions will be tested regularly.

"As of November, Hawaiian Airlines will require all of our US.-based employees to be vaccinated. We will develop a program for our international teammates in alignment with vaccine access in their countries. There is no greater demonstration of our values than ensuring the safety of others," the airline said.

United Airlines and Frontier Airlines both announced that they require employees to be vaccinated against Covid-19 by October.

"Safety is the foundation of air travel, and it is ingrained throughout our operation and service. This is no different," said Hawaiian CEO Peter Ingram.

Responding to the growing number of airlines mandating jabs for workers, Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly 'strongly recommends' all staff get vaccinated but the airline has no immediate plans to make it compulsory.
