Venice set to introduce tourist entry fee

Venice is set to impose its most stringent rules yet as it seeks to curb overtourism. La Stampa reported that several measures have been proposed to control tourism, such a fee to enter the city via an electronic gate system. It is set to be imposed by summer 2022.

It would cost from €3-€10 depending on the season. The measure has reportedly been passed by lawmakers. A booking system for visiting tourists may also be introduced to limit numbers on busy days.
