Japan set to be removed from EU safe list

The European Union is expected to lick Japan off its list of safe travel destinations. That will likely lead to more travel curbs for Japanese travellers. The decision to ban, impose quarantine or mandate Covid tests is left with the individual member states.

A special EU health committee proposed removing Japan, as well as Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Brunei and Serbia. EU ambassadors are set to review he proposal this week before a final decision is made.
