Delta restarts summer flights to Tuscany

Delta Air Lines has resumed direct seasonal flights to the summer vacation hotspot of Tuscany from New York, marking it as the only nonstop service between the Italian city of Pisa and the Big Apple.

Beginning immediately, the four times a week direct service will operate Boeing 757-200 aircraft in cooperation with joint venture partner Alitalia and will run until  August 31.

With the return of the Pisa service, the airline now offers over 50 flights a week from the US to four cities in Italy - Milan, Rome, Venice and Pisa.

Delta's New York-Pisa was first launched back in 2007.

"Travel and trade between Italy and the US continues to show positive growth with spending by American tourists in Italy up 11%," said Delta sales manager for Italy, Patrizia Ribaga.

"Pisa is a popular gateway for visitors to Tuscany over the summer period, and with New York also a favorite holiday destination for Italian tourists these nonstop flights make travelling between the two even easier," Ribaga said.
