Orlando launches curbside valet parking

Orlando International Airport is launching a curbside valet parking service for domestic air travelers from today.

It will initially be rolled out for customers of Alaska Airlines, JetBlue and American Airlines at Terminal A, and United and US Airways in Terminal B.

Carolyn Fennell, the airport's spokeswoman, said it plans to offer the service for all domestic flights, but will not be available for customers flying overseas.

Drivers will be able to pull up at the airport and leave their vehicles with valet attendants, check in bags and get boarding passes all in one place.

When flying back in to the airport, there is no waiting around to pick up the car, Orlando airport executive director Phil Brown said.

"They can text ahead and have their car on the curb waiting for them where they dropped it off," he said.

"We think this is going to be a popular option for many."

The valet service will cost $25 a day and is an expansion of the existing valet service offered to guests at the nearby Hyatt Regency Hotel at the airport.

About 200 parking spots have been allocated for the service which is being operated by service provider Bags Incorporated, initially for a 18-month trial period.
