Woman sues JetBlue for flying son to wrong city

A New York mom has filed a lawsuit against JetBlue after the airline sent her five-year-old son to the wrong destination.
Maribel Martinez' son Andy was traveling alone last month in the care of JetBlue employees at Cibao International Airport in the Dominican Republic.
Due to a mix-up with another unaccompanied minor, he was put on the wrong plane and ended up at Boston instead of New York JFK.
According to Martinez, JetBlue admitted fault and offered her a $10,000 compensation payment which she declined.
The US Department of Transportation also requested a report from JetBlue into how the mix-up occurred.
Martinez is seeking unspecified damages due to 'emotional distress, extreme fear, horror, mental shock, mental anguish and psychological trauma.'
Attorney Sanford Rubenstein says as the US DOT investigation is based on JetBlue's own internal inquiry, a lawsuit is the only way 'to shine a light on what occurred to prevent it from happening again.'
The airline declined to comment on the upcoming litigation.
