Hyatt beefing up luxury portfolio in Asia

Hyatt Hotels Corp has earmarked 21 new luxury hotels and resorts to open across Asia Pacific by the end of 2020.

It will boost its luxury brand portfolio by about 25%.

Openings include seven Park Hyatt branded, six Grand Hyatt and six Andaz, and two Alila branded resorts.

"We are excited to expand our luxury portfolio in Asia Pacific, bringing more distinct experiences through the Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Andaz and Alila brands," said Carina Chorengel, Hyatt's Asia Pacific commercial SVP.

The Andaz brand will double its regional presence, with new openings in Seoul, Dubai and Shenzhen, as well as resort destinations Bali, Sanya and Xiamen in China.

New Alila resorts are slated to open in Malaysia and Oman next year.

The Grand Hyatt brand will add properties in India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and emerging cities in China.

"Hyatt has a distinct and differentiated strategy with each of our brands positioned at the high end of every segment in which we operate, and we are committed to expanding our brand footprint," said Patrick Finn, senior vice president, real estate and development, Asia Pacific, Hyatt.
