American Airlines, Qantas add more codeshares routes and loyalty benefits

American Airlines is strengthening ties with Qantas by offering more codeshare routes and improved frequent flier benefits.

American Airlines customers will get access to five more Qantas flights for codeshare bookings.

These are Sydney to Los Angeles and Dallas Fort Worth, San Francisco to Melbourne and Brisbane and Chicago-Brisbane.

Qantas also added more than 50 new codeshare routes from Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago on American's network.

Both airlines will offer increased mileage accrual for their members

Members of AAdvantage can earn up to double elite qualifying miles and elite qualifying dollars on eligible Qantas flights.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members can also now earn more Qantas Points and Status Credits on American flights.

Members can now redeem Qantas Points for Premium Economy Classic Reward flights on AA for the first time.

The changes come after the Qantas-AA joint venture partnership was finally approved by the US department of transportation earlier this year.
