American Airlines boosts capacity at Cleveland

American Airlines is adding more flights from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport this summer.

Cleveland travelers will get more flights and additional capacity on the New York and Washington DC routes.

From June, the Washington service will be increased from three times to four times daily, and three of the four flights will be on larger aircraft.

It adds an extra 150 seats a day on the route.

The New York LaGuardia service remains at four daily flights but will also add an additional 150 seats daily.

It is replacing 44-seat Embraer aircraft with 76-seat E-175s.

"We are especially pleased that American is not only growing at CLE but adding seats to two critical markets: New York LaGuardia and Washington Reagan National, for Cleveland area travelers," said Airport Director Robert Kennedy.

American's expansion aims to fill a gap after United Airlines said it would drop flights to LaGuardia and Washington Reagan out of Cleveland.
