Wyndham announces big economy and midscale expansion across US

Wyndham Hotel Group just announced a big multi-brand expansion across the US.

It sealed a partnership with American Hotel Income Properties REIT Inc. to convert 44 existing hotels to various Wyndham brands.

These include rebranding to Wyndham's Baymont Inn & Suites, Travelodge and Super 8.

Vancouver based AHIP also just acquired an additional two hotels which will also join the Wyndham portfolio

All the existing 44 hotels currently operate under the Oak Tree Inn brand.

Of these, 14 will convert to Baymont Inn & Suites, 28 will be Travelodge properties and two to the Super 8 brand.

They are located in various markets including Nashville, TN; Kansas City, KS; Jefferson City, MO; Lincoln, NE; and Buffalo, NY.

"AHIP have built a tremendous collection of clean, comfortable and affordable accommodations, which guests have come to love. We could not be prouder to partner with them to help drive incremental revenue to their hotels," said Chip Ohlsson, Wyndham's chief development officer.

AHIP's CEO Rob O'Neill said: "This agreement furthers our strategic plan to curate a robust portfolio of premium-branded, select-service hotels poised for optimal success under strong, recognized brands."

  • A very careful look at branding

I think that Wyndham should step back and spend time looking at some of their brands and individual properties. I recent stayed in a Days Inn and quite frankly it was filthy.
