AirAsia warns public of Facebook scam

AirAsia has warned the public not to be taken in by a charity scam posted on Facebook.


The airline says 'the Tony Fernandes Foundation' is fake and not affiliated in any way with the airline.


Fernandes is the airline group's CEO.


It has no association with the airline's official AirAsia Foundation.





"The mentioned Tony Fernandes Foundation is in no way linked to AirAsia or its Group CEO Tony Fernandes," it said.


"Members of the public are advised that AirAsia shall not be held liable for any claims arising from schemes in which it and any of its authorised officers or employees have no involvement."


It urged people not to sign up.


The scam purportedly offers opportunities to help in various projects by becoming a member.


It is thought this is a ruse for possible identity theft.


"AirAsia will not hesitate to take legal action against individuals or groups who purport to use the AirAsia brand or commit identity theft.
