Contiki promoting “nearvacations”

Here’s still another trend: nearvacations, which are nearby or local outings.

Contiki cited the move in launching its most recent North America packages to the US, Canada and Mexico.

"Contiki travel in North America is already up 5 percent," said Greg "Fish" Fischbein, President of Contiki Holidays. He added:

"It is further testament to the resiliency and flexibility of the youth market - a slower economy does not stop them from traveling the world - including the world found in their own backyard."

He said travelers booking North America trips of eight days or longer by Sept. 25 will receive $100 off.

The company trips take in some of the US’s best-known travel destinations including San Francisco, Washington, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Park.

All trip prices include transport, accommodation, sightseeing, breakfast daily and a number of other meals.
