Navitaire, Ryanair fly high in the Budgies

Ryanair may be the airline that cops an awful lot of flak from flyers, and Navitaire may be the US-based IT company blamed by Virgin Blue for last weekend’s computer systems debacle, but both companies were among the winners at the 4th Annual Budgies World Low Cost Airlines Awards.

The awards seek to reward excellence in the aviation field.

Announced in London this week, Ryanair was named Best Low Cost Airline and Navitaire was chosen for Best Sales and Distribution Innovation.

Alex Cruz of Spanish carrier Vueling was named CEO of the Year.
