Sun reporter carries knife on BA flight

A reporter from The Sun newspaper has exposed a “horrifying security scandal” by carrying a serrated on to a British Airways flight after sneaking it through customs in Kuwait.

Tom Newton Dunn reportedly carried the knife, in his hand luggage, through two x-ray machines – before boarding the jet and sitting in the business-class cabin.

The newspaper carries a picture of the reporter, holding the flick-knife on board the flight. Having arrived at Heathrow, the newspaper states, the reporter passed through security without the knife being found.

The Sun quotes Chris Yates, of Jane’s Aviation Security, as saying: “I am horrified that you can still take a dangerous knife on a plane after all we have been through. The implications are obvious, and it is simply not good enough. British Airways should be asking some strong questions about security procedures at the point of origin.”

BA has reportedly ordered a “security shake-up” after the revelation.
