Protest at Crete airport leads to traveller warning

The Foreign Office has issued a warning to travellers to Crete to be extra cautious at the island’s airport after a demonstration got out of hand at the island's airport.

Police had to use tear gas to control taxi drivers who were protesting yesterday at Heraklion Airport against government plans to liberalise their sector.

“Visitors are advised to exercise caution when using the airport and to follow advice given by their tour operators,” said the Foreign Office.

  • Greek need to wakeup...

What is wrong with the Greeks? Competition is healthy. They owe Billions, the Goverment needs to pay the IMF back. Tourism is all they have. Ruin that and good bye Greece. Wake up people join the rest of Europe, stop acting like you are the most important People on the planet.
