Virgin boosts Jamaica service

Virgin Atlantic will add an extra weekly flight to Montego Bay in Jamaica from Gatwick, starting on November 3.

The Friday flight will complement Virgin's services on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Regional manager for the Caribbean Nick Parker said: "The flight will bring a welcome boost to tourist and visitor numbers to the UK and Jamaica with growing demand between the two locations.

"We have committed more than £50 million to completely refurbishing the aircraft used on this service including new wider seats in Economy and Premium Economy and a new touch screen Inflight Entertainment system throughout."

The first newly kitted out aircraft will fly on the Caribbean routes from this month, with the remainder of the refits completed in time for the start-up of the additional service in November, said the airline.

Virgin is also adding an extra flight to New York and resuming services to Mumbai in India in the autumn, but it is axing its service to Kenya in September.
