Lowcost launches first 'secret hotels' programme for beach resorts

Lowcostbeds claims to have launched the first 'secret hotels' programme for beach resorts, which is aimed at customers looking for upmarket properties on a budget.

Director of sales Paul Riches claimed the programme offered savings of up to 50% off the normal rate for four and five-star properties.

Customers must book blind, they won't find out the name of the hotel until they confirm their booking, but they will be given a detailed description of the property, which will be guaranteed four or five-star quality.

"Hotels who are struggling to fill their rooms are choosing lowcostbeds to sell those rooms at fantastic prices," said Riches.

Lowcost said research showed holidaymakers search over 20 holiday sites on average and up to 90% of bookers visit holiday price comparison and review sites.

It claims its new secret J hotels brand is the first of its kind to offer hotels at top beach resorts such as those in Crete, Corfu, Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Spain, Portugal and Dubai.

Riches said some of the world's leading hotel brands were included, but not named.

 "This is NOT an allocated on arrival style offer, as agents and customers will be told exactly where they are staying, immediately after the booking is confirmed," he added.

"The concept of selling 'unnamed hotels' is not new - but this is a first for beach holidays.  This new programme gives our customers fantastic savings so that they can really live the high life on holiday for a low price.  We are launching with a unique collection of top beach destinations and will add additional destinations later this year."

Prices in the secret J hotels program include seven nights all-inclusive at a five-star hotel in Sharm El Sheikh from £121 per person hotel only in June and seven nights bed & breakfast in a four-star hotel in Turkey from £54 per person hotel only in July.

    Long time coming in a market that has been dominated by LastMinute and Hotwire... Also, nice to see a focus on the beach holidays instead of the typical city breaks that I think secret hotels have become associated with...
