Two more hotel companies enter administration

Two further subsidiaries of the Akkeron Hotels Group have sunk into administration, taking with them five UK properties that recently joined the Choices Hotels Europe network.

However, the five hotels - the Quality Hotels in Peterborough, Bury St Edmunds, Colchester and King's Lynn and the Cromwell Hotel in Stevenage - will remain open and continue to operate as normal, said Choices.

Duncan Berry, chief executive UK, Choice Hotels Europe, said:  "There is no impact on those five hotels, which are all open for business and continue to be part of Choice's network. Choice anticipates the hotels will continue to operate under their respective brands for the foreseeable future."

All the properties are leasehold and are set to revert to the freeholder, said administrators Zolfo Cooper. It is looking for a buyer for a sixth hotel, the Best Western Rockingham Forest.

Akkeron Hotels (Admiral) Ltd and Akkeron Hotels (Corby) Ltd followed Akkeron Hotels Ltd that went into administration last week.

Akkeron Hotels Ltd operated eight hotels, four of which are owned by Freedom Hotels, the management of which has now been taken over by Crieff Hydro.

The management of the other four hotels which are also operated by Choices under its Clarion brand - the Harte & Garter and the Richmond Lodge in Windsor, the Buckerell Lodge in Exeter and Makeney Hall in Belper, Derbyshire - has been transferred to a new subsidiary of the Akkeron Hotels Group, Suite Hospitality.
