Typo directs hotel loyalty club members to sex line

Members of InterContinental Hotel Group's guest loyalty programme in the US have been given the number of a sex line by mistake.

Loyalty cards were misprinted with the number of 'America's hottest' phone sex line on the back, instead of IHG's Spire Elite Reward Program.

Instead the helpline's '1-844' prefix, membership cards were printed with a '1-800' number by mistake.

Although it was brought to IHG's attention by a member, he claims the group had opted not to alert others to the error, according to Consumerist.com.

However, following news stories and a flood of comments on social media, IHG said it had emailed members about the unfortunate typo and new cards would be issued soon.
