American Airlines preferred seating added to Sabre

American Airlines has announced the availability of Preferred and Main Cabin Extra Seats via Sabre's travel marketplace, now using new distribution capability standards.
It is the first time NDC tech has been implemented for ancillary sales for both American and Sabre.
"American Airlines customers love Main Cabin Extra and Preferred seats, and we're excited to have a new way to offer those seats to them through Sabre," said Cory Garner, managing director for distribution for American Airlines.
"This new capability of Sabre moves us closer to our longtime goal of offering our products through as many channels as possible."
A phased roll out of the products has already begun and will be available to all Sabre connected agents by mi-February.
Main Cabin Extra seats give customers up to six inches more legroom and priority boaring while Preferred seats let passengers select personal preferences such as front of the cabin, aisle or window seats.
"Sabre and American Airlines have a long history of reaching innovative firsts together so it makes sense that we would cross this milestone together. Our Air Extras solutions offer airlines an opportunity to capture more revenue on ancillary products," said Sean Menke, president of Sabre Travel Network.
