Caribbean Tourism Organization appoints head of sustainable tourism


The Caribbean Tourism Organization has appointed Amanda Charles as its sustainable tourism specialist.
Dominican national Charles served for the last five years as adviser to the directorate of sustainable tourism at the Trinidad-based Association of Caribbean States (ACS).
She also worked as a consultant at the Organization of American States (OAS) department of economic development, trade and tourism based in Washington, DC.
She will develop and implement the CTO's sustainable tourism strategy to enhance the quality and competitiveness of Caribbean tourism.
This includes 'designing, delivering and coordinating training and development programs dealing with sustainable tourism and product development," according to a CTO release.
Charles is a CTO Foundation scholarship winner in 2006 and 2007 and a graduate of George Washington University where she gained a master's degree in tourism administration.
