Universal Orlando opens newest on-site resort hotel

Universal Orlando has opened its fifth on-property resort, Loews Sapphire Falls.

The Caribbean-themed 1,000-room property, owned and operated by Loews Hotels & Resorts, is the first new hotel at the theme park since 2014, when Cabana Bay Beach Resort opened.

The opening of Sapphire Falls brings the total number of rooms at Universal Orlando to 5,200.

The property has a 16,000 square-foot pool surrounded by waterfalls and serves 75 different kinds of rum in its Strong Water Tavern.

Guests at the new hotel are able to enter Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios theme parks an hour before other visitors.

Sapphire Falls is fifth hotel at Universal Orlando. The others are Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, Royal Pacific and Cabana Bay.
