Emirates joins Alitrip marketplace

Emirates has launched a branded web store on Alitrip, the travel subsidiary of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba.

It is facilitated by Emirates Online B2B, the airline's IATA NDC Level 2 certified API which is powered by Farelogix.

It marks the first airline flagship store on the platform via a NDC connection.

Emirates Online B2B has been developed over several years supported by Farelogix, and uses Farelogix Open Connect technology.

"With the Emirates flagship store, we now have direct access to rich content and ancillaries from Emirates, a global airline that has become increasingly more relevant to the market in China," said Wells Zheng, vice president of Alitrip.

"This equates to a better consumer experience for our customers because we can now deliver highly relevant and new content that was not available through the intermediaries we previously relied on to deliver Emirates content."

Emirates retains full control of content, allowing users to process and manage bookings out of the Emirates reservation system directly.

"As the distribution technology partner for Emirates, we are proud to support the airline's distribution expansion through our technology and integration services," said Jim Davidson, CEO of Farelogix.
