Three in four are not confident about UK's Brexit travel negotiations

Three quarters of respondents to a TravelMole poll say they are not confident that the UK's Brexit negotiations will have a satisfactory outcome for the travel industry.

When asked: Are you confident about the UK's Brexit travel negotiations? 71.5% responded 'no' while 28.5% said 'yes'.

There has been concern over Brexit's impact on the industry since the referendum to leave the EU was held just over a year ago.

ABTA has set out a plan highlighting five central points it says are key during the negotiations.

They are: the ability to travel freely within Europe and beyond; keep visa-free travel between the UK and EU; protect consumer rights; give UK businesses operational stabilit, and seize opportunities for growth.

Additionally, with some holidays on sale up to 18 months in advance, ABTA is calling on the Government to ensure that effective transitional agreements with the EU are in place if needed.

UK outbound travel will drop and domestic travel will slow down this year, but tourism is well placed to ride the Brexit storm, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC)'s Economic Impact Report.
