Bali launching Mount Agung tourism task force

To better coordinate communications and response efforts, tourism stakeholders in Bali have established an Agung Volcano Task Force.

The Bali Tourism Hospitality Task Force is being funded by the Indonesian tourism ministry and takes effect from October 5.

It will handle all tourist related services and dissemination of information related to the unfolding crisis which has seen mixed messages published in the media in the last few days.

Evacuees with homes outside the danger zone have been asked to return but the danger is far from over, and it could still erupt without warning.

The task force is made up of various stakeholders and government agencies including Bali Government Tourism Office, Bali Tourism Board, Bali Hotels and Restaurants Association, the Bali chapter of ASITA, the Indonesian travel agent association and the Bali Tourism Institute.

All updates and official statements will be posted to the official website at

The task force will also lead communication efforts during any other crises or travel disruptions in Bali in the future.
