Why is a Responsive Travel Website Important?

CSI Media, the travel technology specialists based in Cheshire, will share their expertise on designing Websites for Travel Companies, and why a responsive website is now so important!
Is Your Travel Website Responsive Across All Devices?
Do you want your website to deliver an outstanding user experience on all the latest devices including iPhones, iPads and Samsung mobiles?
If the answer is yes, it is imperative that your travel website has a responsive design. A responsive website is one that automatically adjusts to the user's device whether it's a mobile, tablet, laptop or desktop!
Why Is a Responsive Travel Website Important?
Lots of people use their phone to research the latest holiday deals, whilst some book their break in the sun on their tablet...
According to this BBC article, 38% of 16-24-year olds booked a holiday using their tablet during a 12-month period, whilst 34% used a mobile phone.
During 2017, 23% of holidaymakers used a tablet to book a holiday (quite an impressive stat considering that not all will have a tablet device), whilst 20% used their mobile phone (ABTA, 2017).
The way in which people use and interact with the web is clearly evolving, and evolving fast. To maximise conversion opportunities, it's important that your website looks and functions on pretty much all the latest devices!

Users must be able to easily search for holidays, receive results from this search quickly, and progress seamlessly through the booking flow.
Call to Actions will be an important part of your travel website. A call to action is a stimulus that encourages desirable behaviours. Examples include "Search", "Enquire" or "Book Now".
It is important that your call to actions stand out and, therefore, it is advisable for Call to Actions to be assigned distinctive colours and hover effects (that comply with your branding), to catch attention and encourage activity.
Another tip is to have the most important functionality near the top of the page. This is so that users see it as soon as they hit the page. Many travel websites will have an attention-grabbing search box positioned near the top of the page, encouraging users to start the process of searching for a holiday.
Another important consideration is the demographics of your target market. For example, if you provide travel packages for 18-30 year olds, consider that this demographic have an average attention span of 6-8 seconds and, therefore, your web design will need to be snappy and vibrant with clear Call to Actions.
