FCO updates advice for parts of Middle East following Syria strikes

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office has updated its travel advice for parts of the Middle East in light of the military action taken by the US, France and the UK in Syria.

It is warning British citizens in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Lebanon, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait and other destinations that there could be protests and demonstrations in response to the military strikes on suspected chemical weapons facilities.

Visitors were told: "You should follow local media and be alert to local and regional developments that might trigger public disturbances. You should avoid any demonstrations and follow the instructions of the local authorities."
