TUI appoints Helen Caron as group hotel purchasing director

TUI Group has appointed Helen Caron as its new hotel purchasing director, replacing Garry Wilson who has become the new head of easyJet Holidays.

She takes up the role, which includes a position on the Group Tourism Board with immediate effect, reporting into TUI CEO Northern Region David Burling.

Caron has responsibility for leading TUI Group's commercial relationships with overseas third party hotel partners.

She has been part of the TUI UK & I board since September 2015, in capacity of her previous position as managing director of Thomson Cruises. She took on the additional responsibility of distribution in July 2016.

TUI said that among her achievements at the company Caron has as led the modernisation of the cruise business, bringing Discovery, Discovery 2 and Marella Explorer into service, as well as the rebrand from Thomson Cruises to Marella Cruises.

She has also overseen the rebrand from Thomson to TUI across all distribution channels including over 600 retail stores.

Previously, she held the position of head of integration for the distribution division when the Thomson and First Choice businesses merged.

Caron replaces Garry Wilson who leaves after 21 years with TUI to join easyJet Holidays.

The appointment of a new cruise and distribution director for TUI UK & I will be confirmed shortly.
