Shoot-out at Trump hotel where Advantage Conference was held

A man is under arrest after a gun battle with police at Donald Trump's South Florida golf resort where the Advantage Travel Conference was held earlier this month.

The unnamed man entered the Trump National Doral in the early hours of Friday morning, draped an American flag over a counter in the lobby, and begin ranting about President Trump.

Police quickly responded to an active shooter situation and exchanged fire with the man.

He was then 'neutralized' according to Doral police chief Hernan Organvidez, and was taken to hospital under arrest.

A police officer was also injured although not by a gunshot wound.

Police say they don't believe there was a terror-related motive.

The man was 'actively shooting' before police arrived but no one else has been reported injured.

"He was yelling and spewing some information about President Trump and that's what we know so far and he had an American flag that he did drape over the counter," said Miami-Dade police director Juan Perez.

"These officers did not hesitate one second to engage this individual that was actively shooting in the lobby of the hotel. They risked their lives knowing that that they had to get in there to save lives in that hotel," Perez added.

The Secret Service was soon on the scene followed by the FBI.

The 800-acre Trump National Doral has several golf courses and 643 guest rooms.
