TravelSupermarket reveals most affordable resorts for all-inclusive packages

All-inclusive packages have become the most popular choice for Britons, according to TravelSupermarket, which claimed they now account for 38% of all online searches for beach holidays while half-board accounts for 12% and 18% of holidaymakers are looking for self-catering.

The price comparison site said it had seen a 13.5% increase in searches for all-inclusive this year compared to 2017, while prices for all-inclusive packages have fallen up to 10% year on year.

It said Costa Brava, including resorts such as Lloret de Mar, Malgrat de Mar, Pineda de Mar and Calella offered the best value for a seven-night all inclusive for a family of four during the school summer holidays this year, following a 7% price drop.

Spokeswoman Emma Coulthurst said: "The Costa Brava is in the process of challenging people's pre-conceptions and is becoming cool again. Some of the big tour operators stopped selling holidays there back in 2009, but have reintroduced it for this summer.

"Because it hasn't been on tour operators books for a while, there are some really good prices to entice people there this year."

In Turkey, which is the fourth most searched for country for beach packages this year, the resorts of Antalya, Side and Kusadasi offer some of the best value, according to TravelSupermarket.

"Both the holiday itself and resort costs are low. Also, the Turkish lira is currently down, year-on-year, against sterling so you get a lot for your money," added Coulthurst.

Malta, Majorca - where Love Island is being filmed, the Greek island of Corfu, Sunny Beach in Bulgaria and Spain's Costa Dorado also offer good value all-inclusive holidays this summer, according to TravelSupermarket, which looked at prices between July 21 and August 26.

However, a Post Office survey last month found that bed and breakfast packages were better value than all-inclusives, partly due to a rise in the additional amount holidaymakers spend when staying in AI resorts.
