Delays expected at Stansted as Trump arrives today

Small delays are expected at London Stansted today due to the arrival of the US President.

Donald Trump and his wife Melania are due to fly into the Essex airport early this afternoon before heading into London to meet with the US Ambassador at Winfield House then to attend dinner at Blenheim Palace.

Tomorrow Trump will meet Theresa May at Chequers and the Queen at Windsor Castle before flying to his golf resort, Turnberry, in Scotland where he will play golf on Saturday.

Extra security has been put in place for the visit, Trump's first visit to Britain since becoming president in 2016, with large-scale protests expected.

The US Embassy has told US citizens in Britain to 'keep a low profile' for the duration of Trump's trip and to be aware of their surroundings.

It said demonstrations are expected to draw large crowds and told Americans they should 'exercise caution' if they find themselves 'unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings that may become violent'.

A crowdfunding campaign has raised more than £30,000 to make a giant balloon of a Trump 'baby' which will fly above London during his visit.
