Travelzoo calls for support for solo travellers

Travelzoo is calling on the industry to do more for solo travellers as it launches a month-long promotion aimed at the sector.

As part of its #SoloSeptember campaign, Travelzoo will offer discounts and deals for those travelling on their own.
It has already enlisted support from companies including STA Travel, Riviera Travel, Cox & Kings Travel and Holiday Extras.

"Over the past few years, more of our members have called on us to offer better deals for solo travellers. Travelling alone is a growing choice made by travellers but many feel penalised for choosing to travel solo," said general manager Joel Brandon-Bravo.

"We want to rally the travel industry to see solo travel as an opportunity, and to help people choosing to travel alone feel as valued a customer as they would while travelling with others.

"The stereotype of the solo traveller no longer valid; it's not a 20-something backpacker staying in hostels and planning week to week, but increasingly older, wealthier travellers in relationships are choosing to take breaks alone to pursue their own choices and passions.

"We want the industry to embrace the opportunity and work together to provide better options for solo travel and remove or reduce the extra costs of travelling alone."
Travelzoo will launch a #SoloSeptember hub showcasing deals and offers for single travellers in September at
