Airport evacuated when staff mistake vibrator for grenade

Berlin's Schonefeld Airport was evacuated for a third time in 10 days after over-zealous security guards mistook an Ann Summers vibrator for a hand grenade.

They cleared part of Terminal D, which is used by low-cost airlines including easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair and Wizz Air, after the sex toy was spotted during an x-ray at the outsize baggage check-in area.

The bag was reported to belong to a man in his 30s who said he had bought the vibrator for his girlfriend. He was allowed to continue his journey with it in his case, according to reports.

Also on Tuesday, dozens of flights were disrupted at Frankfurt,~Germany's busiest airport, when a passenger slipped through security into the 'airside' area.

Departing flights were held up while the airport re-screened passengers.
