Plane diverted after hitting wall




A passenger plane travelling from India to Dubai had to be diverted after hitting a the airport perimeter wall during take off.

Air India IX 611, which was carrying 130 passengers and six crew members from the south Indian city of Trichy on Friday morning, sustained damage and had to be diverted to Mumbai.

The airline said two pilots, who have more than 6,500 hours of flying experience between them, have been grounded, pending investigation.

The Boeing 737 aircraft took off from Trichy airport when airport officials 'observed that aircraft might have come in contact with the airport perimeter wall'.

"The matter was conveyed to the pilot in command. The pilot in command reported that the aircraft systems were operating normally," Air India Express said in a statement.
